What does terminal block pitch mean?
Pitch is the center-to-center spacing between adjacent positions. Buyers also search for pin spacing or contact spacing. It is one part of a footprint: the number of positions, pin dimensions, hole arrangement and housing outline still need to match the board.
5.00 mm versus 5.08 mm
These are different nominal dimensions. For a straight row of eight equally spaced positions, the first-to-last center distance is seven intervals: 35.00 mm at 5.00 mm pitch and 35.56 mm at 5.08 mm pitch. This arithmetic is a screening check, not proof that a part will fit. Use the manufacturer's dimensioned drawing and tolerances.
Identify the part before ordering a replacement
- Record the complete part number, including suffixes, and take clear photos of the wire entry, pins and housing.
- Count positions and rows. Distinguish a fixed PCB terminal block from a detachable plug and header.
- Compare a dimensioned drawing with the PCB footprint. A rough measurement from a photograph is not enough for final approval.
- Check pin length and size, board holes, body clearance and entry direction.
- For a detachable design, confirm the compatible mating pair, keying and locking details.
PCB terminal block RFQ checklist
| Requirement | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Mechanical fit | Pitch, positions, rows, board drawing and housing clearance |
| Wire connection | Conductor size and construction, wire entry and preferred termination method |
| Electrical requirement | Application voltage and current, operating environment and destination market |
| Commercial request | Sample quantity, expected order quantity and required delivery date |
Start with documented VEXIRA models
The DF-2604P-5.0-2P page lists a 5.0 mm pitch. Compare it with the DF-2604P-7.5-2P reference or browse the PCB terminal block directory. A model reference is a starting point; request the current drawing before approving the board fit.
Questions buyers ask
Does the same number of pins mean the same footprint?
No. Pitch, row spacing, pin geometry and housing clearance can differ.
Can a supplier confirm a replacement from a photo?
A photo can help shortlist candidates. A drawing, dimensions and sample comparison are needed to confirm a replacement.
Is a terminal block rating transferable to a similar-looking model?
No. Review the exact ordering code and its documentation. Keep electrical and mechanical approval separate.

Phoenix Contact's PCB terminal block overview distinguishes pitch, connection technology and model ratings. Its product specifications describe its own products, not VEXIRA models.
