Start with the cable and exposure conditions
For an outdoor lighting or equipment project, describe where the connection sits and what it will encounter. Rain exposure, washing, condensation and immersion are different requirements. Choose from the documented conditions of the exact connector assembly.
Cable diameter and conductor size are different
The cable's outer diameter relates to its entry and sealing arrangement. The conductor cross-section relates to the electrical termination. Provide both, together with cable construction and the number of conductors. A suitable terminal does not by itself establish that the cable seal fits.
Choose the connection format
| Format | Questions to resolve |
|---|---|
| Inline cable joint | How many cables and conductors must connect? How much installation space is available? |
| Junction box | How many entries are needed? Which cable diameters and termination arrangement must fit? |
| Detachable connection | Which mating pair, locking arrangement and service access are required? |
These are selection categories, not a claim that every format is available in every VEXIRA model.
Read the sealing conditions, not just an IP label
Ask whether the documented protection applies when mated, with a cap fitted, or after a specified assembly procedure. Check the compatible cable range, seals, unused entries and assembly instructions. Do not assign an IP rating to a product solely because it is described as a waterproof option.
Manufacturer documentation illustrates why conditions matter: Bulgin's connector catalog identifies sealing conditions for its own connector ranges, including mated conditions. Those ratings do not apply to VEXIRA products.
Prepare an outdoor-lighting connector inquiry
- Application and exposure conditions, with a photo or layout if available.
- Cable outer diameter, conductor size and construction, and pole count.
- Voltage and current requirements and the destination market.
- Required connection format, available space and whether disconnection is needed.
- Sample quantity, order quantity and documentation required for approval.
Browse the available models
Use the waterproof cable connector and box directory to shortlist a model. Keep the complete model reference when requesting the cable range, drawing and sealing documentation. For an indoor wire joint instead, compare lever wire connectors.
Common purchasing questions
Does a waterproof cable make the joint waterproof?
No. The connector, seal, cable and assembly must be considered together.
Is the number of poles enough to choose a model?
No. Check the termination range, cable entry, ratings, connection layout and dimensions as well.
What should be checked before a repeat order?
Record the approved part code, cable reference, assembly documentation and sample result. Use the sample approval checklist to keep procurement and technical requirements together.
